Have you noticed how often Shreveport landmarks are used as titles by the multi-faceted musical artist Brian Blade?
Check “Kings Hwy,” “Red River Revel,” “Stoner Hill,” and even a cut on his latest, the GRAMMY-nominated Landmarks album: “Ark.La.Tex.” On his Perceptual album he even titled the C section of “Variations of a Bloodline, as “Mustangs, Class of 1988.”
Never shy about his roots, Blade, regardless of being a superstar in the jazz world, shouts to Shreveport on a steady basis. If he and the band win the GRAMMY, I predict a global huzzah. And perhaps a confetti sparked parade on Texas St.
Who knows?
Brian Blade won a Grammy as a member of Chick Corea’s trio for the record “Trilogy.” Corea also won for best jazz solo – again sharing the award with Blade.
