For years, the southern part of Bossier, city and parish, has been sorely lacking park facilities. But, ask and you shall receive, eventually – sometimes, all at once.

The South Bossier Park on Caplis-Sligo Road is soon to open, but south Bossier is getting a second new park. As part of a settlement between the City of Bossier and UL Coleman Companies, the new facility will be located just north of the Century Link center in the Walker Place development.

According to an anonymous source in the Bossier Parks and Recreation department, the park will have two bodies of water and will connect with the walking trail along the river via an elevated walkway built over the Teague Parkway.

The park layout, designed by a firm in Houston, Texas, and managed for the city by the firm of Architect Mike McSwain, is not finalized as of now. Bossier City MPC Planner, Carlotta Askew-Brown, however, explained that the design is scheduled to go before the Bossier City Metropolitan Planning Commission for voting on Friday; if the design firm experiences delays, the vote could be pushed back until Feb. 28.
