In the years that Heliopolis has been in operation, it has become increasingly apparent to us that it is extremely difficult to cover all of the important things that we, as a city, have to accomplish. These things, if undocumented and unwatched, run the risk of slipping into the hole of “could have been” rather than on the stack of accomplishments, stifled by unkept promises, lack of enthusiasm, and/or political tactics.
So, we are going to begin keeping an eye on some specific metrics that make our city a better place to live, and more attractive to those looking to call Shreveport home. This report card will be called the City Progress Report. We will maintain a single page rather than create a series of posts so that the topics and their “grades” can be seen by anyone at any time. The page will be located in the main menu bar at the top of the website.
This report is by no means a complete assessment of all the factors at play, but rather a curated selection of metrics we believe are important to providing opportunity for our community to grow and prosper. It is also based on the information we have been able to glean and may be incomplete in that we aren’t aware of all the factors at play. We welcome criticism, investigation, and scrutiny of our reporting and ask that the same be given to the subject themselves. Should new information become available to us from our own research, attendance of city or community events, or through your comments, we will update the page accordingly.
If you want to contribute your opinion or to provide perspectives or data important to our assessment, please email chris@heliopolis.la.
