The burritos aren’t nearly as excited as the other menu items.

Yep, that’s right. Another taco joint opens in Shreveport, Louisiana – hot on the heels of the announcement that Parish Taceaux would open this coming March.

Owner Timothy Huck, who also owns and operates Sand Bar and Phoenix Underground club (which, incidentally, is right next door to Taco! Taco! Taco!), says his passion is for downtown.

“Downtown is growing. We recognize that. I’ve been downtown for over 20 years. This building was available to me because I have the building next door,” said Huck. “My parents, who owned Pizza King on Kings Highway for 30 years just moved back from Pennsylvania, and so we were looking for something to do. It just made sense.”

It does make sense. When you have patrons downtown looking for something to eat late at night, why not do it yourself? – but tacos?

“I’ve always enjoyed eating at Ki Mexico and La Michoacana (the latter partnered at Phoenix at one point), but we wanted something to serve our [late night] patrons. Tacos are quick, easy to carry,” expounded Huck.

Taco! Taco! Taco! has, for the evening bunch, joined only a few, but well-established late night food vendors who aren’t casinos, like Micky’s Hot Dogs, I Fry, and the burrito guy. And one could really qualify Taco! Taco! Taco! as a stationary food truck more than a late night sit-down spot – for which the sole title still held by Full Stacked. You go in, you order, leaven, and eat it on the way to hail a taxi.

A peek in the back.

But, in the short time they’ve been open to the late night crowd, they’ve had success. And, after a short period of being open only on the weekends, they’ve decided to open for lunch as well. So they opened today for the first time for lunch and I went. To be honest, it’s not half bad. The beef was the better of the two tacos and with a plethora of salsas to accompany, I’m sure you’ll find one that suits you.

T-cubed or 3T’s or whatever the shorthand becomes, is bringing inexpensive and quick to an comparatively slow set of lunch options that exist downtown today. I can feel the “but Subway, but Catherine’s” coming at me after reading this article as exceptions to the speed rule, but not like this. Nothing’s this fast in my experience.

And as someone who is out late on… occasion, I’d definitely say that they would satiate my liquor-filled stomach. Also on their menu are tortas, quesadillas (which I didn’t see before I ordered), and burritos. They are assembled with the toppings you like on-demand. Kind of like the much-adored burrito guy who appears like magic Thursday-Saturday next to the psychic mind place on Texas and Spring across from Blind Tiger.

A custom to order set of tacos. One beef, one chicken with cheese, cilantro, and onion.

The ultimate question now will be how it – and everything else being added to downtown of late – will compete. The offerings downtown are expanding, but is the number of people who work there or willing to traipse from elsewhere for lunch enough to fill the demand needs of increased supply? Time will tell. When the Lofts@624 open (one day) and further developments that are in the early stages get further along, maybe so. As a current downtown resident, I’m not complaining. I just hope there’s enough success to go around.

Taco! Taco! Taco! is located at 400B Market Street next to the Regions Tower and is open for lunch Monday thru Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 5 a.m..

Have you tried Taco! Taco! Taco!? What did you think?
