Moviesauce just keeps making good stuff. It’s in their blood to tell stories. To have fun and make fun.
Evan Falbaum is a Shreveport native and owner of the multi-media creative film group who are making great waves in the north Louisiana film community.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Moviesauce by now. They have been featured at film festivals in Kansas City and New Orleans, and are two-time finalists in our very own Louisiana Film Prize.
Well now they’ve just gone and done something crazy. They made a side-splitting feature length comedy called “The Paranormals,” telling a tale of two ghost hunters embarking on a series of embarrassing and disturbing investigations in an effort to try and make a buck. Along the way they prove that real life can be more bizarre than anything paranormal.
Interestingly enough, “The Paranormals” was shot, edited, cast, and scored completely using local Northwest Louisiana talent. Watching the movie is a “Where’s Waldo” experience of pointing out iconic and obscure locations and faces from SBC. You’ll find all types of background easter eggs that will make you want to point excitedly and whisper to your neighbor.
Another interesting fact is that entire musical score was written and recorded by local band Engine (now The Wall Chargers). A variety of instruments and players are featured on the soundtrack, including original instrumental compositions by the band and psych-noise and singing-saw from Jerry Lee II.
All in all this movie is a triumph for Shreveport filmmaking. Make sure to go support the release at the Robinson Film Center screening next Thursday.
