The complete schedule of screenings, music shows, and food events for the Louisiana Film Prize Festival Weekend 2015 is now online. “These five screening venues will give festival attendees lots of unique options on the October 2-3 weekend,” says Gregory Kallenberg.

  1. Central Artstation
  2. Robinson Film Center
  3. Underground Theater (623 Texas St)
  4. Capri Theater
  5. Louisiana Boardwalk (not Regal, but a popup venue)

Thursday, October 1st, at 6pm, the Louisiana Music Prize opens with six bands from around the super region – including locals, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Austin. Your Festival Pass gets you into this live event.

Friday, October 2nd at 9 a.m., the ticket/pass exchange will open at Tipitina’s Music Co-Op (700 Texas Street). Films screenings begin Friday morning at 10 a.m. From that point forward, films will screen nearly-nonstop at the four venues around downtown Shreveport and one in Bossier City. “You may pick any screening you’d like to attend, but remember – theaters fill up fast,” says Chris Lyon. “Show up early and be ready to wait, and have some unscheduled fun in the process.”

Also on Friday night, Music Prize bands will play sets at Bears on Fairfield and Strange Brew.

Saturday, October 3rd, the ticket/pass exchange opens at 8 a.m. Screenings begin at 9 a.m. and rotate all day long. “You must have voted by the end of the festival day on Saturday night for your ballot to count,” says Lyon. Ticketholders may vote only after they have seen all 20 films.

Saturday afternoon at 3pm will feature the Music Prize Power to the People showcase which will give the audience a vote on their favorite band to win cash prizes. Power to the People takes place at the Red River Revel. Shortly after at 7pm, the first ever Louisiana Food Prize Cookoff will take place on Louisiana Avenue in the heart of the Film Prize Festival area.

Sunday, October 4th, the Film Prize staff will announce the $50,000 cash winner, along other prizes like filmmaking grants, distribution, and acting awards, in a live stream online at lafilmprize.com. The stream begins at 11:30 a.m., and at noon, the awards ceremony begins. “By 1 p.m., we will know the winner of Louisiana Film Prize 2015,” says Lyon.

In short, there’s lots to do. And if that isn’t enough, your Festival Pass gets you into the Red River Revel free of charge on Saturday and Sunday as well.

Tickets are $40 before the festival, $50 at the door, but you can get 2-for-1 tickets (2 for $40) this Friday night, September 25th at Great Raft Brewing.

Disclosure: Chris Lyon, one of the editors of Heliopolis, is also on the staff of the Louisiana Film, Music, and Food Prizes.
