It’s Black Friday and the last weekend in November. There’s plenty to do once you’ve recovered from your food-soaked coma and Red Bull-fueled overnight shopping extravaganza. No reason to stop now, right? Let’s get started!
Friday
2:00p – Eat at Sevendipity for what may be the last time today. Persistent problems may make this the last time you’ll ever eat there again. We hope that’s not the case, but we’re just not sure and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
4:00p – Happening now and ending at 6pm is Day Old Blues Record’s Black Friday Record Store Day. If you get there soon enough, you’ll be treated to RSD special editions. For the vinyl lover in your life.
5:30p – Catch up to the Inaugural Shreveport Cranksgiving by SBC Bike Social and Great Raft Brewing. This event will have started at 3pm, but there’s no time like the present to bike up and crank over for beer and live music!
6:43p – Watch the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer for the 40th time because you found a friend who hasn’t seen it yet for “personal” reasons. Even if you don’t get to show them, you’ll be unable to keep from watching it again.
7:00p – Because you WANT to see a bit of every show happening this weekend, you’ll hop over to Madeline & Shay w/ Micheal Brown at Strange Brew which isn’t actually that far from Great Raft. If you’re still sober, you could totally bike there.
9:00p – If you like Shreveport film and want to support a web series currently in development, then Hangar 21 is where you’ll want to be next. Series creators Finch Nissen and Kody Hamlin will be hosting the 86’ed Web Series Benefit with Stiff Necked Fools. SNF is always a good show. And, seriously, you still haven’t eaten the macaroni and cheese bites? For shame…
10:00p – Watch the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer for the 57th time because at this point, you think you remember something specific, but you’ll have to watch it again to make sure.
10:01p – Breathe deep and catch Shayliff playing an acoustic set at 1910 Martini and Hookah Lounge. Smooth shisha for the wind-down of a long day.
Saturday
10:00a – We’re letting you sleep in a little here, because you’ll need the rest, but if you didn’t get your shopping done… fear not. The Holiday Market Pop Up in the Red River District will be open for business with 12 ADDITIONAL vendors, live music, bounce houses, food trucks and entertainment ALL. DAY. LONG. Get brunch there.
12:30p – Even though the Pop Ups will be going on for a while, we all need a change in scenery, so head down a few blocks away to the The Agora Trunk Show which will feature holiday sales on art by local and regional artists who will be on-hand to discuss their work!
2:00p – Eat an abnormally late lunch at Bayou Some Junque Cafe right next to Agora. Though at this point you know next week is for recovery anyway. Don’t fight it.
3:30p – Nap.
7:30p – Relive childhood moments live on stage (and with music written after the fact) with Stage Center’s production of A Christmas Story – The Musical. Guaranteed to be full of leg lamps, soapy mouths, official Red Ryder carbine action 200 shot range model air rifles, and FUUUUDDDGEE. (I can’t guarantee any of that, but would be disappointed if it weren’t packed tight with that stuff.)
9:30p – After avoiding getting your eye shot out, wind down with Trepid & Fights Live at Tiki Bar.
Y’all, I’m sure you Bears on Fairfield fans are a bit upset that there’s nothing from that venue on here, but at the time of the writing, I couldn’t find anything on their page. We write these things a few days out and I’m sure they have great shows going on, but if there are, we couldn’t find ’em!
