Rumors have circulated since October, when renderings of the completed building were released on Facebook, about who will occupy the first floor of the old Sears building – now called Lofts @ 624 – on the northwest corner of the 600 block of Texas Street. The dual purpose building, which will also feature 50 brand-new, “market rate” residential units, has been under construction for about a year, and is slated to open in 2015.
Heliopolis has heard from reliable sources that Rhino Coffee has signed a lease in the new building alongside a sushi restaurant. Rhino, owned by Andrew Crawford, opened its location near Brookshires on Line Avenue in 2012. His company, Crawford Design, is also handling promotion for the lofts which hung banners for leasing information in mid-October. Details are scarce, but we will keep you up to date as the story develops.
What do you think? Will you go to a Rhino location downtown or stick withy the Line Avenue and Southfield location?
Do you too look forward to a second sushi place in downtown?
