There are lots of things happening in SBC as of late, and unless you live in one of the People Zoos on Smellerbe Rd., you’ve probably been keen to hear what will happen with I-49. Yes, it’s a topic of great interest, and one that will surely have some form of impact or another on the economic center that is SBC. We sat down with Ren Dodgers, of the Ratchet City Government Advice Council (RaCGAC), to get exclusive details on the plans.

“A feature of pride for a lot of cities, is a great tunnel; and that’s just what we want to bring to SBC. The people deserve a tunnel,” says Dodgers.

He goes on to say that numerous public meetings were held at very accessible locations and times.

“We wanted to make sure to get valuable opinions from a representative demographic of the City of Shreveport and Bossier City.”

And when you look at the alternatives, it is easy to see that this was not an easy decision.

“There was stiff competition, including a ‘skypass.’ Due to the extraneous length required for this Overpass for the Gods, the height would literally touch the sky.” Sounds fun. “We thought a floating ferry of sorts would be sufficient, but public opinion overruled that gem.”

Evidently, no one wants to scan the streets for a stray dog the way they would scan the seas for a dolphin sighting.

“Expect a formal announcement in May of this year, and construction in the fall. Oh, and we should all start preparing for daily minor earthquakes.”

Don’t worry; we’ll blame the fracking.
