From musical performances at the Calanthean Canyon, literary art via Lumpy Grits, to Hydrogen Child rocking out at Strange Brew, entertainment takes many forms in SBC. You’re pretty much guaranteed a good show at any of our local venues, but what about a good laugh?
“We’re trying to change Shreveport one punch line at a time,” says Sarah Spooner, the “Comedian Wrangler” for You Small Comedy Troupe (YS).
The troupe is gearing up for their Christmas sketch show on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Back 2 Back Bar, located at 750 Diamond Jacks Blvd. inside Bossier City’s Bossier Suites.
According to Spooner, the YS troupe will perform original sketches and stand-up comedy with a “funky Christmas flair.”
“I think [SBC] needs comedy, because we could all use a good laugh,” said Spooner. “I’ve often heard from people in town that there’s nothing to do in SBC, which is simply untrue.”
With most of their new members joining during open mic nights at Hangar 21 (Tuesdays, 9pm), YS has been together for a couple of years – but only under the You Small Comedy Troupe name since July when they began doing sketch comedy.
Anyone is welcome to join the open mic nights, and the troupe is currently looking for new members; three of the current members are moving to Los Angeles in January.
The show on Wednesday starts at 9pm, and admission is $5, 21 and up.
