Tonight, come HOME with Omen Art.

“The idea grew out of discussing how much of women’s private lives and personal decisions are being played out in the public sphere every day by politicians and other people in power that have no business doing so,” said Omen Art’s Chrissy Wise of the interactive art show set for 9 p.m. sharp tonight at Bear’s on Fairfield.

“So we wanted to bring the home environment – fuzzy memories of childhood, dirtiest habits, personal ritual, and most private time, the bed and bathrooms – to the most public place we could think of… the neighborhood bar.”

Rituals and private moments to explore will include Singing in the Shower karaoke in the “bathroom” on stage, an ice cream eating contest, a bedroom with nighttime rituals projected onto it, airing out dirty laundry in the makeshift wash room, and much more.

Event at the Calanthean Temple. The installation will be up for the duration of the project – 6 months.

Omen Art, described by Wise as “a women’s art collective/badass girl gang,” meets twice a month at Rhino Coffee and includes members of every age group, profession, and “color of the rainbow.” To get involved, find Omen Art on Facebook, see their past work on tumblr, attend a meeting, or email them at omenfart@gmail.com.
