The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is hosting the 9th annual Empty Bowls event tonight at the Eldorado Casino and Hotel, 6 – 9 p.m. The event raises awareness on the issue of hunger in our state and local communities.
Attendees will enjoy a modest dinner featuring soups, bread, dessert, and a beverage. A silent auction will feature hand-painted ceramic bowls
and donated goods and services.
At the end of the night, guests will choose a ceramic bowl (crafted by artists and community participants) to keep. These bowls serve to remind the attendees of all the empty bowls in our community that do not get filled.
The Food Bank will be honoring a partner agencies, Bernstein Development, Inc. for all that they do to help fight hunger in northwest Louisiana.
Tickets for the event are $40 each. Ultimate Raffle Prize tickets for a free, one year lease on a new Toyota Tundra Crew Max are $20 each. They can both be purchased online at www.foodbanknla.org.
Through the food bank, which is the largest distributor of donated foods in the area, over 6.9 million pounds of food were distributed to children, women and men in seven parishes in 2013.
