If you are a Shreveport resident who experienced inaccurate water bills, there is a new system rolling out that might interest you. Any suspect bill can be brought down to the Department of Water & Sewage Office starting April of 2017. At this time a newly constructed wheel will be on site to take your chances. You can win free a month of water, or end up owing considerably more than your original bill. It just depends on how lucky you spin that day.
Mayor Ollie Tyler states, “With all the casinos in Shreveport-Bossier we decided this would fit into the gaming spirit of the area. The wheel adds an amusing element to something locals have been upset with for a long time”
For those that are skeptical of this idea. The city didn’t cut any corners with the construction of the project. It will rival any wheel you have seen in any casino statewide. You might have seen something a little better in Oklahoma, but definitely not Louisiana. There will be LED lights, sound effects, the works. The mayor will be present for the unveiling, and will throw the first spin on April 1st.
New homeowner Randy Meloncon is excited, “I had to take out a loan to fill up my swimming pool. I can’t wait to get my hands on that wheel opening day.”
With the dream of winning big, other locals showed interest in keeping their lawns green all summer long. No longer will they be plagued with brown patches and dust. Their yard could now potentially be the envy of the neighborhood.
Some who didn’t notice any bill problems still liked the idea of participating. Barb Williams explains, “It may not be the Powerball, but I’ll try anything once, especially if it’s new.”
This was intended as a temporary fix until problems with the current billing system are worked out. If shown as a popular venture the idea might be here to stay, and could expand to other parishes. Keep an eye out at Heliopolis.la for more updates.
